                                      Academics


          The Department conducts a B.Tech course (60 students). From inception in 2001, nine batches of graduates have set sail from 2005 until date. Justin K. Kurian (2006 batch) struck gold, achieving the 1st rank in the 2010 M.G.University exams. In addition, an M.Tech in Power Electronics & Power Systems (PE&PS – 18 seats) has been offered from 2009-10, with two batches having graduated. Beginning from 2013-14, a pioneering specialization, M.Tech (Energy Systems) is being offered for a batch of 24.
           Emerging electrical engineers are groomed in the fundamentals of Network Theory, Analysis, Electrical Measurements, Electrical Machines, Power Systems, Control Systems, Instrumentation, Computer programming, Digital Electronics, Microprocessors Linear Integrated Circuits, Digital Signal Processing, Microprocessor, Micro – Controllers etc. The last few years have shown a marked popularity for electives such as Advanced Power Systems, HVDC Engineering, etc. relating to Power Engineering.

                           Career Prospects


As an electrical engineer, you could work in a range of areas, including:-

  •      Transport networks, including rail electrification and signalling
  •      Power generation, transmission and distribution
  •      Renewable energy sources, such as solar paneling, hydroelectric and wind turbines
  •      Building services, such as lighting, heating, ventilation and lift systems. The National Electronics Manufacturing Policy launched in 2013 offers exciting prospects for growth in all such areas.
